Richard Bresler
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Krav Maga Ground Fighting
Instructor
Richard Bresler began his studies in Gracie
Jiu Jitsu in August of 1979 with Rorion
Gracie. Richard has the distinct honor
of being Rorion’s first private student
in the United States. The two eventually
became roommates, allowing Richard to totally
immerse himself in the Gracie lifestyle
as well as training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Richard continued to train privately with
Rorion as well as assist him with teaching
his private clientele.
Due to Richard’s friendship with
the Gracie family, he was afforded the
opportunity to train with Grandmaster Helio
Gracie and his sons Rickson, Relson, Royler,
Royce as well as Rigan, John and Carlos
Machado. Richard has the distinction of
being the only non-Gracie to assist them
in teaching in their early pioneering seminars
in New York, New Jersey and Las Vegas.
Richard was present at the inception of
the UFC and can even be seen cleaning the
mats after a bloody match.

Gracie JJ, Richard earned his Brown Belt
from Rorion in 1991. He completed the first
instructor training program there and began
teaching in late 1992.
In the fall of 1996, Richard joined Lowell
Anderson as one of the original founders
of Beverly Hills Jiu Jitsu. While at BHJJ, Richard earned his Black Belt from
Fabio Santos in September of 1996.
In 1997 Richard left BHJJ to establish/develop
the ground fighting program for Krav
Maga Worldwide. While at Krav Maga,
Richard has been instrumental
in adapting
BJJ to Krav Maga principles as well as updating the Krav
Maga ground fighting curriculum for the ever-changing world. |
